Hard Maple (Sugar Maple):

~44 to 45 lbs/ft³ (720 kg/m³)Why: The industry standard for cutting boards and butcher blocks. It is extremely dense, wears evenly, and has a very tight grain.

American Black Walnut:

~38 lbs/ft}^3\) (610 kg/m³)Why: Slightly lighter and softer than maple, making it excellent at retaining sharp knife edges. Highly prized for its rich, dark color and natural antimicrobial qualities

Black Cherry:

~35 lbs/ft}^3\) (560 kg/m³)Why: A moderate-density wood that is extremely stable and gentle on knives. It features a warm, reddish-brown color that beautifully patinas over time.

White Oak:

~47 lbs/ft}^3\) (755 kg/m³)Why: Extremely hard and practically indestructible, though it has slightly larger open pores compared to maple.

American Beech:
