Hard Maple (Sugar Maple):

American Black Walnut:

Black Cherry:

~35 lbs/ft}^3\) (560 kg/m³)Why: A moderate-density wood that is extremely stable and gentle on knives. It features a warm, reddish-brown color that beautifully patinas over time.

White Oak:

~47 lbs/ft}^3\) (755 kg/m³)Why: Extremely hard and practically indestructible, though it has slightly larger open pores compared to maple.

American Beech:

~45 lbs/ft}^3\) (720 kg/m³)Why: A durable, tight-grained utility wood that is easy to work with and highly resistant to splintering.
